House Democrats on Thursday largely supported allowing the Department of Homeland Security shutdown to continue, pushing back against renewed Republican calls to approve a funding bill as tensions with Iran escalate and domestic security concerns grow.
The House narrowly passed a bipartisan DHS funding proposal in a 221–209 vote, but nearly every Democrat opposed it. Four Democrats — Reps. Henry Cuellar of Texas, Jared Golden of Maine, Marie Gluesenkamp-Perez of Washington, and Don Davis of North Carolina — crossed party lines to back the measure.
